Who We Are...

As a start up, the creation of Plato's Projects, was inspired by the overwhelming financial needs that students have in order to make their educational dreams a reality.

My background: I grew up in Tarpon Springs, Florida; joined the United States Navy out of high school; I attended St. Petersburg College and the University of South Florida and earned an A.A. degree and  a B.A. degree in Political Science.  After graduation I applied for and was accepted to attend New England School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts, and after two years I transferred to and graduated from Florida Coastal School of Law located in Jacksonville Florida. After experience working in the legal field, labor relations and as an entrepreneur, I finally settled, for the past 16 years, into the field of academics where I am currently a full time educator working on Florida's Gulf Coast.  Presently, I have added the prestigious position as the honored President of Plato's Projects, Inc., to my growing and ever expanding vitae.

What I do: I for one, work at a Title 1 high school in an economically diverse area within my community (this means that over 70% of the student population are on free or reduced lunch due to their financial situation).  Daily, I witness the struggles, the effort, the hard work, and the achievements of many incredible students.  I also witness the heartbreaking inability of some of these students to pursue their educational opportunities and prospects due to their lack of financial resources.  It is this waste of intellect, ability and potential that has motivated me to create Plato's Projects, Inc.  It is my belief, that many of these students who, with a little assistance, could be successful engineers, nurses, doctors, lawyers, accountants, professional musicians, collegiate or Olympic athletes, etc., if they could only get some financial assistance to pursue their educations.

My dream: It has been my dream to do something about this travesty and waste of human potential.  This is why I have made it my mission to help these children and young adults.  I firmly believe that the life of every child and young adult is precious and no one person should miss out on the American dream if they are willing to do the hard work and have the ability to earn their special place in society.

Please help us: help us help these students. Please help us make their efforts and dreams a reality.  Please donate today, or please make a donation in-kind (donate something of value).  Thank you!

Yours Truly,

Robert S. Benjamin, J.D., President
